Figurehead carved in seasoned oak.
Ted recalls:
I was working in a foam rubber factory on the little island of Lolland in
Denmark in the 70's.
Once after a smoke break when my co-workers were returning to work I
remarked in my broken Danish, "I've heard that there is an energy crisis, so
I'm going to sit here for five more minutes and save energy".
Everyone began seriously explaining to me that this was not the kind of
energy that was on the news, except for one man who managed, with difficulty
to keep a straight face.
We became friends, and when I discovered he was building a sailing boat I
carved this figurehead for him with the tools given to me by my grandmother.
